STEP AWAY FROM THE BOOST BUTTON!

PLEASE STOP – DON’T BOOST

It truly saddens me to see so many people continually pressing the BOOST button on Facebook.

BOOSTING A POST IS NOT THE SAME AS PLACING AN ADVERT. CERTAINLY, BOTH WILL APPEAR AS ‘SPONSORED’, BUT THAT IS WHERE THE SIMILARITY ENDS.

When you boost a post, you are simply asking Facebook to place it in front of as many people as possible who are likely to respond – with a like, comment, share, or even possibly a follow. Facebook is very good at doing this, and there is a very good chance that you will receive a lot of engagement which will give you the impression that your ad is working. Unfortunately, these 'first responders' are unlikely to form part of your target market, meaning that the money you’ve spent has been wasted. What is even worse, because of the engagement, the algorithm will continue to show this post and any future posts to the same set of people, with your brand awareness descending into ever decreasing circles.

Don’t get me wrong, boosting a post has its place and can be beneficial for your business, but only if it’s used in the right way. A good example of this is when you already have a fantastic following and want to remind them what a great job you’re doing.

While you are building your brand, Ads Manager is much more effective – and the even better news? It doesn’t cost you any more money!

When you create an advert using Ads Manager, you have the opportunity to choose your own objective and target audience to build brand awareness, resulting in tangible sales and increased revenue for your business.

Yes, it takes a little longer to create an advert in Ads Manager, but wouldn’t you rather spend your time and money reaching the right people?

INSTANT LIKES AND SHARES MIGHT BE 'SEXY' BUT THEY DON'T PAY THE BILLS.
